Attuvampatti to MariammalKovil clean up committee
Over the last month Padmini Mani Prinicpal of Satya Surabai school for local children and I have convened a committee to clear away garbage from three villages under the auspices of the Panchayet President of Villpatti area.
We have met him and asked him to clear away garbage from the roadsides encouraging him with the words of the Prime Minister who is very anxious to push for a cleaner India; now, because of government funds becoming available to village officers a tractor and trailer has been purchased and a weekly cleanup initiated. However, this is not enough as there are no landfills available locally and we need to push for this first.
With the help of a local bank and some people willing to give money to buy receptacles for plastic we have seen a difference in just a few weeks.
It will take some time to decide on the type of bins we need for the roadside, as they have to be secure and yet easy to empty. We are confident that once they are designed and in place and we can talk to villagers about not throwing garbage and putting all plastic and landfill material into bins we can, hopefully, make a difference in this area.

Forest Department Clean up of Bombay Shola
Yesterday we went for a drive on the 12 mile round. It was super clean with bins at all tourist spots and people busy sweeping. Have not seen it so clean in 25 years. Congrats to the Forest Department!
The Forest Department and an NGO from Coimbatore organised 2 rubbish clean-ups in Bombay Shola and Bear Shola. We hope one will happen soon in Pambar.
